Meet Sal, who was rescued from a kill-pen on 7/30/21. He is grade and has a brand on his right shoulder. He will lunge in both directions. He is broke to ride but requires an intermediate to advanced rider. He has been walked/ trotted under saddle but not cantered. Sal is gaited and very smooth to ride. He has more whoa than go. He does not have a mean bone in his body and has never offered to kick, bite, buck, rear, or bolt. Sal does best with someone who can earn his trust and help him work through things that he is afraid of. He does require some maintenance for navicular and requires shoes to keep him sound. Sal requires sedation to be shod. He received injections in spring 2023 to help with his navicular. Sal loves receiving attention and being brushed. Jet is a coming two-year-old colt. We are guessing that he is a mustang or quarter horse but we do not know his exact breed. He was rescued in August of 2023 from a kill pen and was unhandled. At this time, he is still afraid of people and will not let us near him. He has never had a halter on. He needs someone who can build trust with him and show him that humans are not scary. We will continue to work with him for as long as he is here. He was recently pelleted dewormed. He does not have any vaccines and cannot be gelded until we can get a halter on him. His gelding fee is not included in his current adoption fee and it will go up once we geld him. We feel that he will be a sweet boy once his fear of humans disappears. Honey was rescued from a kill-pen in August of 2021. She is grade and cannot be rode anymore. She does require some maintenance. She enjoys being brushed and loved on. Honey is starting to go blind but gets around well as long as she has a buddy in the pasture. She is easy to catch and is lower on the pecking order. She has seen dogs and does well with them. She would be a great mare to keep your horse company. With a free lease, you would be responsible for all of her costs in your care and you cannot sell her, if you can no longer keep her she comes back to the rescue. Blizzard is a super friendly gelding who enjoys being loved on by children. He was rescued in February of 2023 from a kill pen. He is broke to ride but only for light riding or occasional trail rides. He does not have any vices and does not buck, bolt, rear, or bite. He is easy going and for all levels of riders. Our trainer stood up on him with a tarp flag and he did not move. He has a big knee with arthritis and requires some maintenance to be comfortable. He stands well tied to be tacked up and for the farrier. His teeth were floated in 2023, so the vet confirmed his age. He is very easy to catch. We have used him for our one-day horse camps for younger children and he did great for the kids to ride and lead around. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about Blizzard. Grant is a coming two-year-old colt. We are guessing that he is a mustang or quarter horse but we do not know his exact breed. He was rescued in August of 2023 from a kill pen and was unhandled. At this time, he is learning how to lead and pick up his legs. He is friendly and enjoys being around people. He would make a wonderful project for someone. We will continue to work with him for as long as he is here. He was recently pelleted dewormed. The vet is coming out to do vaccines and sedate him for a trim on March 3rd. He cannot be gelded until 3 weeks after March 3rd because he needs a tetanus shot first. His gelding fee is not included in his current adoption fee and it will go up once we geld him. Gem was rescued in August of 2023 as one of the most emaciated horses that we have ever seen. We gave him time to decompress and gain weight before doing a training evaluation. His training evaluation was done on 2/21/24 by our trainer. He did not do anything naughty, but we feel that he may have sat in a pasture for the last couple of years and he will need a refresher.
